What you gain

  • A currently sold remote that MAX charts list as covering the old 80 / 370 / 970-series path when the opener is compatible.
  • Two spare buttons for a second door, gate operator, or MyQ light (if you use them).

What to verify (hard stops)

  • Learn-button color on the opener powerhead — see learn-button guide. White-button / DIP / some commercial receivers are exceptions.
  • If you only want one button, 890MAX is the 1-button MAX sibling; 895MAX is the panel style.
  • Gate-only or non-LiftMaster receivers need their own compatibility check — do not assume residential MAX charts apply.
